ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Scott W. Dutton
Managing Partner
Scott Dutton founded the firm in September, 2001 and has overseen its growth to 35 attorneys serving clients from seven offices across the state of Florida. He is Board Certified in Civil Trial Practice by The Florida Bar, a designation he has maintained since 1992. He is also AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
Scott handles matters involving appellate law, bad faith claims, casualty insurance defense, fraud & SIU, personal injury protection (PIP), and products liability.
FIFEC recognized Scott with the Jerry Zappalo Distinguished Service Award in 2012 for his dedication to fighting insurance fraud.
Maria Pace
Civil Trial Attorney, Orlando Office
Maria has defended numerous insurance carriers across the State of Florida, including in the county and circuit courts of Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Collier, Lee, Orange, and Hillsborough. Over the course of her career, she has tried nearly 100 jury trials to verdict.
In 2003 she earned her J.D. from Temple University, James E. Beasley School of Law and was admitted to practice in Florida.
James C. Rinaman, III
Civil Trial Attorney, Jacksonville Office
Jim served in the Army Judge Advocate Corps after law school from 1990 to 1996. He then joined insurance defense firms in Florida until he established his own insurance defense firm. He has tried jury trials in both the circuit and county courts throughout North Florida. He practices in the areas of medical claims (No-Fault), auto negligence, truck, and marine liability, premises liability, and SIU matters. He speaks German and Spanish.
He holds a J.D. from Florida State University (1989) and was licensed to practice law in Florida in 1990. He is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
Retta Rico
Civil Trial Attorney, Fort Lauderdale Office
Retta focuses primarily on litigating personal injury protection cases arising from automobile accidents and homeowner’s insurance claims. By the time she had completed her undergraduate degree, she had been promoted to lead paralegal in a major toxic tort case involving over 200 plaintiffs. Prior to joining the firm, she worked as an associate at three insurance defense firms in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale area.
She earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University – Shepard Broad Law Center in 2010 and was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2011.
Christina M. Saad
Civil Trial Attorney, Jacksonville Office
Before joining the firm Christina interned with Judge Brian J. Davis of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and also worked with the Florida Coastal Family Law Clinic. She has participated in many pro bono programs and completed over 125 hours of legal and non-legal community service while in law school.
She holds a J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law (2018). She was licensed to practice in Florida the same year and is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
