Dutton Law Group to Present on SB 76 at 2022 FIFEC Conference

Attorneys Christopher Dutton and Richard Phelps will present on Florida Statute 627.70152 – Suits Arising Under a Property Insurance Policy, better known as “SB 76.” This has become a source of extensive litigation throughout the state of Florida since it went into effect on July 1, 2021. The current status of trial court cases, and appeals will be reviewed. Attendees will learn how to use the statute effectively for the benefit of both the insurance carrier and policy holder.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Christopher S. Dutton
Civil Trial Attorney, Tampa and Pensacola Offices

Chris primarily practices in the areas of first party property, bodily injury/uninsured motorist, personal injury protection, and fraud/SIU. He is active in DRI, with both the DRI Products Liability Defenses newsletter and in the DRI Young Lawyers Division. He is a member of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association (FDLA). Chris has been selected to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars List in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

He earned his J.D. from Nova Southeastern University – Shepard Broad Law Center, in 2015. He is licensed to practice in Florida (2015) and is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.

Richard R. Phelps
Civil Trial Attorney, Orlando Office

Richard practices in the areas of complex commercial litigation, general litigation, and business disputes. He worked as a claims adjuster for two major automobile insurance carriers before attending law school.

He earned his J.D. from Florida A&M University, College of Law in 2017, the same year he became licensed to practice in Florida.
