Continuing Education Presentation by Jim Rinaman at the 2018 MCDN Conference
Posted August 24, 2018
Florida has legalized Medical Marijuana by prescription. Presently, Federal law lists marijuana as a scheduled drug, which conflicts with Florida law. This means Medicare, and its associated fee schedule, does not presently cover medical marijuana for purposes of PIP claims, which makes it a potential out of pocket expense in 3rd-party claims. This presentation will discuss the history that led to Florida legalizing medical marijuana, challenges surrounding potential marijuana prescriptions in 3rd-party claims, as well as what changes in the law might make it possible for us to see PIP claims for treatment with medical marijuana. Mr. Rinamin’s 50 minute presentation is entitled: “Medical Marijuana and Auto Medical Claims in Florida – What’s on the Horizon”.
Mr. Rinaman’s presentation is part of an all-day seminar concerning the investigation, adjusting, and defending of first and third party medical claims that is scheduled for Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the DoubleTree by Hilton at SeaWorld in Orlando.
